Recognition for years of service

In recognition of their years of volunteer service in search and rescue, the AQBRS gives its members a pin bearing the image of the Association. 

These pins are available in 5-year, 10-year, 15-year, 20-year, 25-year and 30-year versions of search and rescue involvement.

Raynald Leclerc appointed honorary member (2026)

It is with immense pride and profound gratitude that we announce the appointment of Raynald Leclerc as an honorary member of the AQBRS. For many years, Raynald has embodied the core values ​​of search and rescue: commitment, solidarity, professionalism, and dedication to the community. Through his exemplary career, Raynald Leclerc has left a lasting mark on the field. This honorary membership recognizes the extent of his commitment and the positive impact he has had on the organization and the entire community.

On behalf of everyone, thank you for these years of outstanding service and for the inspiration you continue to provide!

Catherine Dumouchel appointed honorary member (2026)

It is with great admiration and sincere gratitude that we acknowledge the appointment of Catherine Dumouchel as an honorary member of the AQBRS. Her compassionate leadership, rigor, and generosity in sharing her knowledge have inspired colleagues and volunteers, while also fostering the development of the next generation. We wished to recognize the importance of her contribution, the impact of her work, and the positive legacy she leaves within the organization and the community.

Marie Cauchon received the Canadian Civil Security Exemplary Service Recognition Award (2025)

Congratulations to Marie Cauchon, Head of Operations at Recherche et Sauvetage Québec-Métro (RSQM) and our coordinator for the Quebec, Chaudière, Appalaches region who was in Ottawa on February 26, 2025 to receive the recognition award for exemplary service from Canada's civil security.

Well done Marie! It's totally deserved!



Guy Lapointe receives the Coronation Medal from His Majesty King Charles III (2025)

On January 29, 2025, Guy Lapointe received the Coronation Medal from His Majesty King Charles III. This medal is awarded to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the Canadian community or accomplished an exceptional achievement abroad. 

Guy Trottier named honorary member (2023)

On May 11, 2023, we officially presented Guy Trottier, former treasurer of the AQBRS, with a mark of recognition for the excellent work that he carried out with great rigor during the three mandates during which he served on the board. board of directors of the Association. 

His management of the finances of the AQBRS and the New Initiatives in Search and Rescue projects has greatly contributed to the financial health of the organization.

Alain Croteau named honorary member (2021)

On March 20, 2021, the members of the AQBRS board highlighted the retirement of Sergeant Alain Croteau from the Sûreté du Québec who left a few days later. Due to the pandemic, the event took place by videoconference. 

For the members of the AQBRS, the work aimed at recognizing volunteer expertise done by Alain deserved to be highlighted and immortalized. As we very rarely do, Alain earned the title of honorary member of the Association, a significant gesture within the AQBRS.

Marie Cauchon, coordinator of the Capitale-Nationale-Chaudière-Appalaches region, proudly represented all the members of the Association. 

Thank you Alain and happy retirement. 


Claude Beaulieu Prize 2020

On March 12, 2020, the AQBRS received the Claude-Beaulieu prize presented by Vanessa Pérugien, president of ROHCMUM and Karoline Bergeron, vice-president.

The Claude-Beaulieu prize is awarded to a person or organization involved in civil security. 


Sauvetage Bénévole Outaouais - OVSAR Mérite québécois de la sécurité civile (2019)

On the occasion of the Quebec Public Security Conference, the Sauvetage Bénévole Outaouais-OVSAR group received an honorable mention for its involvement in the disasters that affected the Gatineau and Ottawa region in recent years.

On behalf of her group, Catherine Dumouchel received the prize from the hands of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security, Madame Geneviève Guilbault.


Quebec Merit in Civil Security (2018)

During the recent civil security conference, the Civil Security Association of Quebec received merit in prevention and knowledge of risks.

This prize was awarded to him thanks to the organization of the four Volunteer Meetings in Civil Security in which the AQBRS participates, through his active contribution in the planning of the event, to the School of Civil Security and the presence of its members during the four Volunteer Meetings.

Being the prime contractor in organizing the event, the ASCQ received the award on behalf of all the organizations involved.

Prize for excellence in civil security awarded to Guy Lapointe (2018)

On May 24, 2018, Guy Lapointe received the Award for Excellence in Civil Security from the Honorable Ralph Goodale, Federal Minister of Public Safety.


Sovereign's Medal for volunteers awarded to Guy Lapointe (2017)

On March 1, 2017, Guy Lapointe, president of the AQBRS, received the Sovereign's Medal for volunteers from the Governor General of Canada. The ceremony held in Montreal aimed to highlight his 25-year commitment as a member of a search and rescue team.


Vigilance and Loyalty Medal - Bronze Oak awarded to Marie Cauchon (2016)

On May 26, 2016, Marie Cauchon, coordinator of the Capitale Nationale/Chaudière/Appalaches district and head of the RSQM group, received top honors. This medal recognizes the contribution and commitment of the partners of the Sûreté du Québec.


The Outdoor Expertise and Research Laboratory (LERPA) is an honorary member (March 2014)

On March 22 and 23, 2014, following the conclusion of the FORS project, LERPA was welcomed as an honorary member of the AQBRS. This project could hardly have been carried out without the work of all the members of LERPA.
