Search and Rescue Volunteer Association of Canada

On February 26 and 27, the members of the SARVAC executive committee met in Toronto. It was also an opportunity to meet members of the Ground SAR Council to discuss the new national standard.

Several projects are currently on the table. Among other things, we will see the “Lost person behavior” manual translated into French. The SARVAC will cover the translation costs.

We were also informed that in 2016, we will still have the opportunity to present a weekend of workshops as we did in Rivière-du-Loup in November 2015.

In March 2015, Guy Lapointe, current president of the AQBRS, agreed to take over from David Mepham as representative of Quebec search and rescue teams within the SARVAC.

We would like to thank David for his excellent work. We are convinced that the presence of the president of the AQBRS within the SARVAC will be beneficial for its members.

On this page, you will find an overview of the files currently in development within the SARVAC.

New canadian standards for search and rescue

In partnership with the CSA Group, SARVAC has published the new Canadian standards for ground search and rescue. Overall, the new standards provide for three levels of expertise, namely:

  • Ground searcher;
  • Leader;
  • Search Manager
