What's up ?
This page was created to inform members of different search and rescue groups about the initiatives undertaken by the Association.
Civil security activities

In order to highlight the structure of our association and the expertise of our volunteers, we wish to offer municipalities affected by disasters a direct support service to the population.
This is how on August 16 and 17, 2024, an AQBRS team made up of different groups from the Montreal region provided assistance to the authorities of the City of Laval. Our role was to support social workers in caring for the victims and to provide them with support by emptying their flooded basements. For our members, it was an incredible human experience.
Training of 21 incident managers
Thanks to Public Safety Canada's New Initiatives in Search and Rescue Fund program, the AQBRS was able to hold a three-day incident manager training workshop.
21 members of the Association spread across the province are now able to lead search operations for missing or lost people.

New Initiatives Fund

For a fourth consecutive year, Public Safety Canada has endorsed our request for the New Initiatives Fund.
Based on a period of 2 years, our project of more than $150 aims to develop a structure aimed at training our members so that they are able to intervene in the event of major disasters such as tornadoes or floods.
This structure will, among other things, allow member organizations to establish protocols of understanding with the municipalities in their region and other civil security organizations.
Training Manual - Version 1.4

It is with great pride that we have just published the second version of our training manual on search and rescue techniques.
Available in paper format only, this manual is 469 pages long and covers all aspects of ground search and rescue.
All profits from the sale of the manual are used to fund the activities of the AQBRS.
The manual is on sale at a price of $65 (plus GST) for members of a group connected to the AQBRS and $75 (plus GST) for non-members.
To order it, please send us the order form that you will find here at the following address: aqbrsadm@gmail.com
Claude Beaulieu Award

During the 2020 symposium of the Regroupement des organizations humanitarianes et communitaires (ROHCMUM) in emergency measures in Montreal, the AQBRS was awarded the Claude-Beaulieu prize given to a person or organization dedicated to civil security.
AdventureSmart Trainer Workshop
On February 29 and March 1, the AQBRS held a workshop aimed at training new instructors for the AdventureSmart prevention program. 19 members participated. The activity was led by Marie-Claude Bélanger, provincial coordinator of the program and member of the group Recherche et Sauvetage Québec-Métro (RSQM). She was very well supported by Patrick Arseneaut, New Brunswick provincial coordinator and member of the York Sunbury Search and Rescue group.
Our manual for canine teams is now available

We are pleased to announce the publication of our new manual on the training of search and rescue canine teams.
In this 300-page book, dog handlers will have an excellent overview of training techniques ranging from searching in a forest environment, searching for drowning victims or searching in rubble.
