Our specializations

In order to ensure quality service to police authorities and families who call on us, members of AQBRS groups receive comprehensive training on all aspects of the search and rescue of missing people in the forest.

Each group is responsible for training its members. In collaboration with the Sûreté du Québec and the Ministry of Public Security of Quebec, the AQBRS oversees training through the implementation of a certification that volunteers must meet.

The basic training courses that members must complete are:

  • First Aid and CPR;
  • Map and compass;
  • GPS;
  • Profile of a missing or lost person;
  • Ground search techniques;
  • Index protection;
  • Telecommunications;
  • Forest survival.

Additional training can be added.

The AQBRS has very strict training and certification standards. Most of our members are ground searchers but some members have chosen to work in different disciplines. The collaboration between our different resources greatly increases the possibility of finding a person missing in the forest.
